Wind Mitigation Credit Checker (Broward)

Answer the seven categories on Florida's uniform wind-mitigation form and see which features may already earn an insurance credit, and which upgrades could add one. It takes about two minutes and runs in your browser; nothing is sent.

Florida law requires insurers to offer discounts for wind-loss-mitigation features (section 627.0629, Florida Statutes). A licensed inspector records those features on the uniform mitigation verification form, OIR-B1-1802.

This checker is a guide, not an inspection, and it cannot promise a credit. Your insurer decides how credits apply to your policy.

  1. 1. Building code

Was the home built (permitted) under the 2001 Florida Building Code or later?

  2. 2. Roof covering

Does the roof covering meet the Florida Building Code (for example, a roof permitted and installed under it, with approved products)?

  3. 3. Roof deck attachment

How is the roof deck (the plywood or boards under the roof) fastened?

  4. 4. Roof-to-wall attachment

How are the roof trusses or rafters attached to the walls?

  5. 5. Roof geometry

    What shape is the roof?

  6. 6. Secondary water resistance

Is there a secondary water barrier on the roof deck (for example, self-adhered membrane or taped seams under the roof covering)?

  7. 7. Opening protection

Are the home's openings protected with approved impact products or shutters?
